His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said graduated from the Oxford University Foreign Service Programme in 1979.
His Majesty held various positions in the Sultanate of Oman
- His Majesty held Presidency of the Oman Football Association between 1983 and 1986
- His Majesty held the position of Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs for eight years (1986-1994)
- In 1994, Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos appointed him Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- In 2002, he was appointed Minister of Heritage and Culture
- Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos appointed him in 2013 as Chairman of the main committee responsible for developing the Sultanate
- His Majesty is the Chairman of the Main Committee for the Future Vision of “Oman 2040”
